Latin lawyer. Felsberg labour head joins son at Msv advogados

Felsberg e Associados labour head Nelson Mannrich has joined his son at boutique firm Mannrich, Senra e Vasconcelos Advogados ahead of a restructuring drive at his former firm. Mannrich, 66, joined MSV Advogados as a partner on 1 August with three associates. He also made the move with his full client list, numbering some 30 national and multinational companies, in sectors ranging from agriculture and logistics, to mining and financial services. With the latest additions, MSV increases its partnership to six and boosts total headcount to 19. In his new role, Mannrich will work alongside his son, Celso Mannrich, to help grow the firm’s labour practice. Celso, together with Flávio de Souza Senra and Breno Ferreira Martins Vasconcelos, founded MSV in 2004. Mannrich says he decided to make the move to MSV after 13 years at Felsberg because he believed working within a smaller firm would allow him to provide his clients with a more personalised service and denies it was driven by an on going restructuring process at Felsberg: “I spoke to Thomas Felsberg a few months ago and this restructuring process took place after the conversation,” he explains. “My decision does not have any connection with the restructuring at the firm.” This is echoed by Thomas Felsberg: “Nelson’s 66 and he told me he has promised his son he would strengthen his law practice, which I understand and would do the same,” he says. “We’ve hired Ana Amelia who has a great experience in the field and whose strength is collective bargaining and dismissals, as well as litigation. We’re keeping a part of Nelson’s team, and she is bringing two attorneys with her [from her boutique]”. Mannrich was among 25 lawyers (including five partners) to confirm last week they were leaving Felsberg as part of what Felsberg describes as a “strategic downsizing”. Yesterday, Felsberg announced it was hiring five new partners partly to replace the recent departures and to strengthen other areas of the firm. by Joe Rowley (Latin Lawyer)
